offTheLeftEye Swedenborg Foundation videos on YouTube

offTheLeftEye is a YouTube video channel sponsored by the Swedenborg Foundation. Here is a description from its About page:

offTheLeftEye looks at life and death through the uplifting spiritual perspectives provided by eighteenth-century scientist, theologian, and mystic, Emanuel Swedenborg.

We post an array of educational and entertaining video formats including our live weekly webcast, Swedenborg and Life, where host Curtis Childs from the Swedenborg Foundation and featured guests explore topics from Swedenborg’s theological writings and discuss how they relate to modern-day spiritual growth seekers. We cover the afterlife, angels and spirits, near-death experiences, God, spirituality, and more, and we try to balance these faith-based topics with evidence-based research from subject experts. Tune in every Monday night at 8 p.m. EDT, or catch up now by watching pre-recorded episodes in our Playlists section.

Thank you from the bottom of my soul! You have honored by God to do this work, and you honor us every day by spreading Her gift, Thank you again, and you are prayed for.

  2. Just one more question: Are you affiliated with OffTheLeftEye? Kind of like questions https://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-Answer-Man.html and https://www.gotquestions.org/Ronald-L-Grossi.html.
Are there any matters on which you disagree with OffTheLeftEye?

      Hi World Questioner,

OffTheLeftEye is sponsored by the Swedenborg Foundation. I do scholarly work for the Swedenborg Foundation. So I work for the same organization, but other than that, I am not affiliated with OffTheLeftEye. It is a separate project of the Swedenborg Foundation. It is not part of the project I work on for the Foundation, which is the New Century Edition of the works of Emanuel Swedenborg.

OffTheLeftEye is, of course, a Swedenborgian channel. I am also a Swedenborgian. So the basic teachings are the same. I watch their videos from time to time, and agree with most of what’s said there, but occasionally I disagree with something. Usually not on any major issue. There are differences of perspective among Swedenborgians just as there are among other religious groups.

I do think that OffTheLeftEye is doing very good work, reaching out with Swedenborg’s teachings to a popular audience of spiritual seekers. The host and the whole crew do a nice job of presenting Swedenborg’s teachings in an approachable, understandable, and enjoyable way.

My biggest problem with the organized New Church (Swedenborgian) is that it does very little effective outreach. Mostly, it just focuses on its own people and its own affairs. Jesus’ final commandment to his disciples in the Gospel of Matthew is to go out and make disciples of all nations. So I appreciate the Swedenborg Foundation (which is a publishing body and an educational institution, not a church) putting serious money and effort into an effective outreach project on YouTube and Facebook.
